Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in Puerto Madero, Buenos Aires.

Time

I took this picture in the afternoon, around 3~4pm

Lighting

Even though I think this would have been better at mid-day with the harsher light, I liked how the shadows from the columns add to the photo

Equipment

I took this photo with a Nikon D3100 and the 18-55 kit lens, pretty basic, right?

Inspiration

I went there to do a photoshoot for a friend and while he was getting ready I turned around and saw the repetitions of the columns and pressed the shutter button.

Editing

Even thought the picture was mostly grey, I lowered the saturation of the colours present on the photographs and pumped up the contrast a bit.

In my camera bag

My Nikon D3100, 18-55mm and 50mm 1.8g lenses (basically the only 2 lenses I have) and my tripod

Feedback

Repetition in photography happens almost everywhere, from your own home to nature. You just need to pay attention and find the right angle that creates the effect or "feeling" you want to portray. Also, a straight photo is not always the right choice when playing with repetition.
