Behind The Lens

I love to go for walks, especially when I have my camera on me. When I was out walking through my neighbourhood, I noticed a single flower peeking out of a wooden rail outside of someone's house.
It was in the late morning, around 11:00.
I find that taking pictures of flowers doesn't require any very specific lighting, you don't have to have that perfect sunlight every single time.
This image was taken on my Panasonic DMC-GH4 with a 25mm f/1.4 lens. I love this lens - mostly because of the depth of field it allows me to get. I wasn't carrying anything else on me at the time.
I think at the time I was just looking to get some great photos of some flowers, because I love doing that in the summer. A lot of my flower photos look very similar, so I was really happy to get an interesting one.
The lighting was actually pretty flat when I took it, so I wanted some contrast. I experimented in Lightroom and tried making everything black and white and giving the flower a blue colour. I also added some grain to give the photograph a vintage look.
In my camera bag
I am very much a beginner photographer, and right now I don't really have a bag. I love photography and plan to expand on that passion of mine in the future, however, I currently don't have enough equipment to take a bag with me.
This feels kinda corny to write, but keep your eyes peeled. Flowers are always in interesting places, especially in the summertime. There's always an opportunity to take a normal-looking (or super interesting) flower and use your environment to make an amazing image.
