This photo was taken at Eagle's Nest Trek Point in Duikar, Hunza. It is the center of attention and this photo is from the highest possible trek point on the whole Eagle's Nest mountian.Time
This was shot around the evening, hence being a perfect Golden Hour shot. The funny story about this photo is that, when we were going up to the peak to scout a location to take a good photo, it was still light out. Note that this hike was a good 45 mins from our hotel room which was right underneath this mountain. We took this photo around 4:00pm and at 4:15pm we could see darkness approaching us as the sun had already set since it was Winter. Now this was just like it is in the movies, a huge patch of darkness coming our way like it was some scary monster. We rushed down the mountain, carrying about 10kg of equipment along the way - the whole time racing the darkness, otherwise we would have been lost on this peak. We finally reached our hotel at 5:00pm and when we looked up at this peak it was pitch black! We made it just in time!Lighting
The lighting was absolutely perfect! We have been to this peak 4 times but have only seen this lighting once. It was actually magically, as if the heavens had opened up just to give us this money shot.Equipment
This was shot on a Nikon D5300 with a Nikkor 28mm f/2.8 lens. No other equipment was used.Inspiration
This location spoke out to us and that's what inspired us to take this shot. It was like nature's way of telling us about how artistic and majestic is truly it! A sea of mountains as far as the eye can see.Editing
The only post processing that was done in this image was to open up the shadows and highlights to show more detail of the mountains and the sky. Along with that, a purple and gold color grade was applied to play into its majestic theme that was portrayed when taking the shot.In my camera bag
We usually don't believe in heavy duty equipment for taking any shots, its all about having the creative vision. But we do keep a Nikon D5300, Lumix GH4 and a Canon 200D Mk2 in our bags. Along with that we also take shots with our iPhones, GoPro and a DJI Mavic Pro.Feedback
Keep your eyes open at all times! The perfect shot can appear out of anywhere and you should always be prepared. Don't rely on heavy expensive equipment, a phone can take just as powerful of a shot as a $2000 camera.
