Behind The Lens

Location

When I was visiting my brother in Southern Cal on our last night we stayed at a hotel in mission vally. I was walking from the main building thru the court yard and noticed the dragon flower. I thought this would make a great photo. When I got home I took this photo and added some special effects and when I saw this result it took on a unique shape and I loved it. Thought it was a good photo for the abstrat verision of a dragon flyer

Time

It was taken at night time in a dimmly lit court

Lighting

Needed to use flash to bring it up

Equipment

I used a cannon EOS Rebal T-6 with a 35-70 mm lens I use the zoom feartue to bring in the flower up closer

Inspiration

I am into nature and scenery and find that you never know what will make a good photo from architure to just of people in general. To bring to life the beauty of nature can cheer someone up

Editing

Yes I went home and used Topaz editing program and slected several verisions of ths photo which original was not distorted. When I saw that this effect made the straight line of the flower creating a wavey pattern which was quite unigue

In my camera bag

I carry several lennes for distace and up close. An extra light. I also carry extra batteries if the one in the camera dies while in use.

Feedback

What ever subject matter you want to focus on make that the center of the photo. If it a dark area use a flash as it will bring light to the photo while maintaining the dark background. When you download the photo play around with some of the different effects. You never know what you would come with. Even a bad photo can be like a abstract painting
