This photo was made at Duntrune Castle, in Argyll on Scotland’s west coast! This little known castle is the longest continuously inhabited castle on the Scottish mainland and the moody skies just helped portray the drama of its setting I feltTime
This was made as the sun was starting to set, a little break in the clouds let some beautiful crepuscular rays through and ended the day perfectlyLighting
I had been waiting a few hours at this spot for a break in the clouds. I knew the angle of the castle taken from this spot would work well if the rays came through and my patience eventually paid off! I wanted the rays to bring the eye down through the image to the Castle and almost frame the shotEquipment
This was made using the DJI magic pro 2 drone and a 0.9 ND filterInspiration
This is a location close to where I live and I have had this shot in mind for a few years now! Having recently got the drone it made it possible, along with the right weather conditions, to eventually make this imageEditing
I had to do some post processing to reduce the noise from the raw file and bring out the shadows In the image! In my camera bag
I always carry my Canon 5d mk 3, a canon 80d for time laps videos, and a Mavic pro 2 drone I use a Canon 85mm prime lens, Canon 50mm prime, Canon 24mm prime, Canon 17-55mm, Canon 70-200mm, Sigma 150-600mm Manfrotto tripod and a selection of ND and soft grad ND filters and speed light flashFeedback
Patience was key for this shot! Knowing the location and watching the weather to wait for the break in the clouds, and timing to get the frame to line up made all the difference!
