Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in Norg, the norther part of Holland, there were thousands and thousands of red poppy's, but this was one of the few pink poppies. Most of the time you see photo's, giving the difference, but I prefer to have a close look.

Time

I saw photo's of a collegue made in this more than 20 yard field and wanted to go there. So I went together with a collegue, and took this photo, at one glow, completely in love with this colour. Photos are made from me, where you cannot see me, but sitting completely in trance of this unbelievable field.

Lighting

I love making photo's when the sun is burning, trying to get the right light on my photo. Most photograpers say, it is a pity that the sun shines, but I am always happy when the sun shines, because it gives you lot of opportunities to catch that light in your photo. Otherwise, it is just a photo between million others.

Equipment

I have a fabulous camera, the Sony 7 2V, I have 2 lenses, the 24-240 and my macro lens 1:1. So I always start with my 24-240 lens to make an overview, after that I disappear between the flowers. And then look around. Try to find the most beautiful flower, which is in the right position, and that is the position I want. And than I make photo after photo, especially in this case, where there was a strong wind. I waited till the wind got down for a second and then shoot. And do that again and again.

Inspiration

The colour of this flower inspired me. I really love Poppy's, they are my favorite flower. But seeing that colour I was sold. That was the flower I wanted to have. And not in combination with the others, but pure the flower in its own beauty. I reminds me of people being different. But when you take a closer look, those people are sometimes so interesting and worth a closer look.

Editing

Yes, I did, I posted it on FB. And I posted your comment of course.

In my camera bag

Only my Sony with 24-240 lens and macro lens. That is all.

Feedback

Look for opportunities, look for things or situations that differ from other photo's. And take your time to get a sharp image. A photo can be nice or beautiful, but when it is not sharp throw the photo away. Immediately. And make a new one. Just as long as you get the photo which you wanted. Take care that the horizon is straight, if you have one. Be sure your compesition is interesting. Be sure your white balance is right, so keep the rules in mind, but if that rule is not possible at that moment, just redo that photo, or crop it a little bit.
