Behind The Lens

Location

Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin at my Godmother’s house

Time

This was probably taken around the afternoon, (Around 2 or 3:30pm) thankfully during the Summer. I was outside on my front porch and decided to take a selfie because I liked the amount of sunlight in my direction as well as the simple outfit that I was wearing that makes it that much more appealing.

Lighting

As stated in the previous question I was happy with the amount of sunlight I was able to get in this picture. The lens flare gave an elegant type of feel for it with how my eyes can feel the sunlight graze off of my face and making me feel 10x more confident in my photo.

Equipment

I do not know how to use any professional camera nor do I have any equipment. This photo was taken (and edited) on my Galaxy s10 when I had one.

Inspiration

I like to give a certain vibe in each phot I take. And this just gives me a wholesome and heartwarming feeling of inspiration every time I go back to look at it. Reason being is because of the angle I took it at and the outfit I was wearing. Furthermore, the background. You can tell I don’t live in the most luxurious house, but I still give of that nonchalant type of smile that says “Things are rough right now, but I want you to ‘now that I’m okay”. And the way my chain pops out from my plain white shirt for some reason gives a more “Eye catching” vibe. The entire phot gives off a really welcoming vibe and I am really glad I took this picture because it just keeps me going when I don’t want to move!

Editing

I use photo editing apps (whether it be on a phone or iPad) my #1 go to is Photoshop Express. I am starting to use LightRoom more as well. I used to have Black and white as my favorite color since it goes well with everything including each other, but I’ve grown to like the color Blue now. So when I’m editing I usually start off with the lighting and contrast, (I try to stay away from exposure unless the picture is really dark or bright) and if I can remember correctly, I added a Fluorescent filter and toned it down til you could just notice the vibrancy in blues as you gaze upon the picture itself.

In my camera bag

I have no equipment or cameras unfortunately. I have been doing just mobile photography for the past 10 years.

Feedback

Like any other obstacle or goal, on thing you should remember, the random things you think are pointless, are what’s going to help you understand why you the bigger things turn out to be as amazing as they are. It’s okay to take a bunch of pictures of (and edit) a bunch of random things because you’ll be learning the basics and you’ll be able to apply that to the more advance photos you take an edit. Because somebody somehow and somewhere, is looking for that random picture you took because it could fit and/or perfectly describe what they are feeling or trying to say.
