Behind The Lens

Location

I took this on the porch of my home in Wisconsin, USA. It was a crystal clear, yet plain Picture at the time. I wanted to bring some type of Nostalgic type of feel to it, because I feel that things that mean nothing now, will mean everything later. So with purple being my second favorite real color, I decided to give it an old/aesthetic feel. I wanted to make this picture force me (and those who gaze upon it) to appreciate that moment because in that time I was just enjoying life. Using your imagination, you can flashback or imagine you walking down this block with your favorite person or pet, or any memory that is triggered because of this picture. (In a good way of course)

Time

I can't say I remember what time it was, (I would have to go back through my google photos which have like 6k photos) but I can confidently say that it was taken around the mid to late afternoon. It was quiet at the time so the ambience of the outside was very serene.

Lighting

I had no real intention of focusing solely on the lighting, but as I was editing this I noticed that the purples had different shades of light and dark tones and I focused on The Blacks, Whites, Highlights, and Shadows entirely after I made the decision to give it its purple nostalgic feel. Now as you can see, the shadows and blacks compliments the whites and the highlights very well and impressed me. It made me feel like I've outdone myself mainly because the little details of this picture captured a big meaning.

Equipment

I do not own a Photography Camera, now am I experienced in using any of them. So I've been relying on my phone. I've been taking pictures and doing editing for over 10 years, But I've started over the past couple years getting better. I started with a Galaxy s10, (Which is what I took the picture with) and I now own a Galaxy s20 Ultra.

Inspiration

I like taking pictures of life. Not every photo of this type needs to uploaded, but just enjoyed by the one who took it so they have something to hold on to. However, there are times where I convince myself that maybe at least 1 other person might appreciate this as well.

Editing

This photo was taken and edited on my phone, and was saved as a copy. The App I used for this was PhotoShop Express

Feedback

Take pictures of literally everything and look at it and stare at until it holds some meaning to you. You won't keep every picture you take but it's meant to give you a perspective of life and what aspect of life specifically that you think of when you take it or look at it. Before you get into the editing part of photography, you're going to be more focused on the moment you captured before worrying about how to make it better. But I am not shaming the editing, I agree with it 100% because sometimes we can't see with the naked eye what someone or something would look like if it "looked like that/this". My own personal advice though, (this is more towards Mobile Photographers than Normal Photographers) is to make sure to look at what you're capturing rather than entirely through the camera. I say this because it's okay to capture a moment, but make sure you are in the moment as well.
