Location
This photo was taken in my Home Studio. I used a Greenscreen. The backdrop was created by me digitally.Time
The photo was taken at night.Lighting
I used a three light setup. Two lights in front. The front right light was powered slightly higher than the left frontal light in order to create facial contrast. The third light was used as a hair light to provide some separation from the backdrop.Equipment
I used a Nikon D300s with a 80-200 Nikon lens on a tripod. As I recall my settings were ISO 160, SP 200, f-stop 8.0Inspiration
The model is my good friend's wife and he wanted to have a professional head shot done of her.Editing
The Raw file was minimally processed in Photoshop. In my camera bag
My bag contains a Nikon D500 camera, a SB Flash, rechargeable double B batteries, a battery charger, spare camera battery, memory cards, a card reader, a Polarizer filter, a Neutral Density filter, and two Nikon Lenses...a 80-200 f2.8, a 24-70 f2.8 and a Tokina 11-16 f2.8 lens.Feedback
Setting up a home Studio is relatively inexpensive. If you intend to shoot fashion you need to be able to shoot full length. Obviously if you only intend to shoot head shots your space requirement will be less. For backdrops, a black and a grey is adequate and the shades can be altered with lighting. If you own a Greenscreen backdrop you can digitally create backdrops of your choice. With regards to lighting three light heads and three umbrellas will suffice. A tripod of course, a Light Meter and if you own a laptop or similar device you will be able to shoot tethered.
