Location
The photo was taken on New Smyrna Beach in Florida. I am passionate about Scenics.Time
It was sunny, clear blue skies. and the waves were gently stroking the sands as they ebbed and flowed with a soft splash in the balmy February afternoon, around 5:00 PM February 6th.Lighting
The weather conditions were perfect, creating a magical light.Equipment
I used a Nikon D3OOS with a 24-70 mm f2.8 lensInspiration
I was sitting in the backseat of my friend's car with camera in hand, revisiting the same beach we walked on six weeks earlier. Then, we had made many attempts to get the birds feeding in the sands to fly aloft to enable me to take a photograph, to no avail. This time it was different. We drove south along the beach to check out the scene. I was sitting on the east side in the back with the window rolled down. Suddenly, the sky filled with a flock of Seagulls, flapping their wings and creating the perfect birds of a feather panorama. I had one chance. I yelled at my friend "stop the car". I aimed and grabbed the shot.Editing
The image was shot in Raw and processed in Photoshop by increasing the saturation somewhat, followed by sharpening. In my camera bag
I keep my bag as light as possible. In it is my Nikon D300S and three lens: 80-200 mm f2.8, 24-70 mm f2.8, and 85 mm f1.8Feedback
One of the most important traits of a landscape photographer is to be patient, but be ready for the unexpected.
