Behind The Lens

Location

I love Zoo photography! My thinking is I'll probably never take a safari, so the zoo is better than nothing. This was taken at the Dallas Zoo and is one of a number of great shots I got that day. With my long lenses I can get in close and get great detail. Its like there is no bars to hold me back. I admit I like gorillas the best due to their human like features and behaviors.

Time

Early afternoon, but always try to capture the shot in even lighting and shade is the best with the Texas sun.

Lighting

Make sure you lighting is even unless you are going for an effect

Equipment

All Nikon, D-810 body, 200-500 f5.6 on a Bogan monopod

Inspiration

I mentioned I love gorillas due to their human like features and behaviors

Editing

I always sharpen everything..but with moderation. I also make sure the eyes have good sharp detail

In my camera bag

The answer to this question where I am going and what I am going to shoot. I have lenses that cover 17mm wide to 500mm and I have a 1.7 teleconverter

Feedback

Be patient, watch closely, have a good monopod for long lenses and be creative and open minded
