Location
This photo was taken Bukit Panorama, Pahang, Malaysia. A place famous for it's sunrise with sea of clouds and being famous it was crowded and I had to find a right spot to avoid the crowds and able to capture this view.Time
To capture this scene, a small hiking needs to be done in the dark before sunrise. We reached the lookout point before sunrise and waited for it to come out behind the mountains from the far side across the sea of clouds. This photo was taken on the 23rd April 2017 7.08a.m. where there was just enough light to show the sea of clouds and the sky is gradually dark to the west.Lighting
It's all natural light, filtered by thin clouds in the sky and the timing to catch the scene just nice where the sky has not turn all white and blue but golden graduating to deep dark blueEquipment
It was taken using Sony A6000 with the 16-50mm power zoom kit lens and a tripodInspiration
I was just starting to pick up photography back then and it has always been my interest to landscape photography. The beauty of this photo is the wonder of sunrise and the sea of clouds. Also, how the clouds reflect the bright gold sun light together with the layers of color from bright to dark gives a magical feel to the photo.Editing
A little cropping and adjusting the contras and exposure in Adobe Photoshop ExpressIn my camera bag
At the current moment, I have sold the kit lens and accompanying my Sony A6000 would be Sony's 18-105mm F4 lens for all day, street photography. There's also a 10-18mm F4 wide lens for landscape photography and a 35mm F1.8 prime lens for low light and portrait. Also, I have purchased the 70-350mm F4.5-6.3 lens to capture the moon.Feedback
Patient and be ready, the sun rises fast and clouds move as wind blows, every second there is a new scenery. To capture the best, we have spend time observing and appreciating every moment. A safe and suitable spot is also very important.
