Behind The Lens

Location
This photo of a wicker basket was taken at my home in Alberta, Canada. I enjoy taking photos of objects around the house.
Time
I took this photo during the early evening, just as the evening light was beginning to dim a little. That was an interesting experiment, with dimmer light than I was accustomed to.
Lighting
This was an experiment with slightly dim light in the early evening, using natural sunlight through a window.
Equipment
I used a Nikon D5500 DSLR camera with a 40 mm f/2.8 macro lens and a +10 close-up filter. I also used a miniature tripod and a wireless remote control for the shutter.
Inspiration
I enjoy photographing ordinary objects from a unique perspective. For example, this is the underside of a basket, which would usually be hidden from view. I most often think of the linear patterns of wicker, so I liked the more circular pattern from this perspective.
Editing
During post-processing with the raw file, I chose the "camera vivid" color profile, and then did some additional fine-tuning for color intensity.
In my camera bag
I always have my Nikon D5500 camera body, and I particularly love using macro lenses (often combined with close-up filters).
Feedback
It can be fun to photograph ordinary household objects from a unique perspective. Try turning an object over on its side, or turn an object upside down, or fill the frame with a very small part of the object.
