This shot was taken as I wandered around a butterfly house while on holiday in sunny Skegness. I love butterfly houses as they give you the chance to see all sorts of beautiful creatures you wouldn't normally see.Time
Unusually for the UK it was a very hot day, and I actually went into the butterfly house to escape from the baking afternoon sun! Despite being very humid inside it did feel a bit cooler in there :-)Lighting
The lighting is all natural - bright sun filtered through dirty greenhouse glassEquipment
Taken on a handheld Canon Powershot G5X, probably set to auto.Inspiration
This was very much a right time - right place shot, as just after taking the shot the butterfly flew off. The shadow through the leaf and the colour of the wings against the leaf is what caught my attention.Editing
I do very little post processing to my photos. This was just cropped in from the original to enhance the diagonal of the leaf edge.In my camera bag
My camera changes from time to time, but I favour 'point and shoot' as when I used to carry a DSLR it annoyed me as I never had the right lens on to capture the scene in front of me. My current camera is a Fuji Finepix S1.Feedback
Just point you camera at everything you see that interests you and take a photo. The great thing with digital photography is that you can crop and enhance if you want, and can delete too! As long as I like my photos it doesn't matter to me who else does. I take photos for my enjoyment and no-one else's.
