Each year, when spring rolls around, the bird life around our cabin continues to surprise us. There are species of bird that reliably reappear, such as hummingbirds, cardinals, flickers, jays, etc. There are also changes in the number of certain birds, as well as new birds that have taken up residence in our yard. This year, we have more black-capped chickadees than normal. They’ve been scouring our apple trees for small green worms which apparently live in the apple blossom buds.
