Location
Actually, in my living room.Time
This doesn't really matter. I used OCF light to get the lighting for this shot.Lighting
The light in the shot does not come from the candle. I put a speedlight camera left, in the same line as the candle. I used an orange gel to get the correct light in the scene.Equipment
This was shot with a Canon 80D, TAMRON SP 17-50MM F/2.8 XR DI II VC, a remotely controlled ESDDI speedlight And some props. Things I have in the kitchen and prints of original magic infolioInspiration
I've bought an astronomical ring just for curiosity. When I opened it, I thought it would be nice to have it float in mid air as if there was some kind of magic happening. So the entire scene took form in my mind and I simply had to give it a try.Editing
Basic light and tonal corrections. I moved the ring becouse I didn't like the way it was floating. Then I added some light enanchement to the ring and fixed a bit the lantern. In my camera bag
Camera, three lenses (50 mm 1.8 / 17-50 2.8 / 55-300 4-5.6), a speedlight, a tripod. ready for everything ;)Feedback
Experiment. Move things around. Add or remove objects from the scene. Try to visualize what you are trying to get. And keep shooting and trying until you finally find your way.
