We're from the South, but we've made eight trips to Yosemite, we love the park so much. We were driving over the top toward Wawona and I saw this juniper in the distance. It stood only a few feet tall, all gnarly and twisted by the spare soil and harsh seasons. I had my Mamiya C220 loaded with Kodak something and Nikon FM2N loaded with Kodachrome 25 I think. I made several shots of the whole tree and portions of it, especially the base wrapped around the rocks. I like this Kodachrome because of the more realistic rendering and the detail.

I digitized the slide recently using a Nikon D7500 with a 28-105mm zoom macro lens mounted on a copy stand. I illuminate slides and negatives with an old lightbox.
