This image was taken on my back porch, the dandelion was actually in a glass of water in front of a green curtain. I am a self-taught nature photographer who sees real beauty in the minute details.Time
I call this image "Tenacity" as I watched this tiny seed blow back and forth in the slight breeze and yet hang on. It was mid afternoon and the filtered light was a perfect backdrop.Lighting
I wanted this image to show the beauty of simplicity and to highlight the finite details of nature. Seeds such as dandelion and milkweed are so interesting with their little built in parachuts.Equipment
I shoot with a Canon 7D markii. This was shot with a a Canon 55-100mm, handheld.Inspiration
I was having a love affair with dandelion blossoms that summer. I shot them at night, day, on the plant, blowing in the wind, and in vases. Of all of those shots, this image I love the most for its simplistic composition.Editing
I try and do minimal processing, I did even out backgroud in this a bit.In my camera bag
When I am out in the field I carry two lenses, tripod and monopod.Feedback
Watch your light, try to use natural light if at all possible. In this case I set up my scene with a backdrop with enough distance to get some bokeh effect and soften the backlighting. I also shot in what I call "eyelevel on the subject" where you position yourself to shoot level with the object.
