Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Victoria Park in Plymouth, England.

Time

I took this photo early one wintery morning on my usual commute through the park.

Lighting

I always try to capitalise on the natural lighting available. On this particular occasion the sun was just rising and offered the most beautiful light through the mist.

Equipment

This photo was unashamedly shot on an iPhone.

Inspiration

I saw this view and couldn't not take the shot. My motto is to always take the shot, no matter how unsure i am of the outcome, but in this case i knew it would turn out great. The light and composition were like a gift.

Editing

I only like to do minimal editing to my photos because i think it's important to maintain the integrity of the natural shot. Usually i just boost the saturation and sharpen the image just a little. This shot required very little.

In my camera bag

I always have my phone but also try to carry my Sony DSCHX50 with me at all times. If I go out specifically to take photos i'll usually carry my telescopic tripod as well.

Feedback

Don't underestimate winter. Just because it's cold and dark, there will be moments of beauty to capture too.
