While riding on the Delta Bison Range in Interior Alaska, I spotted these little beauties among the grass. The trees were just starting to green up, and patches of snow still lingered in the woods. These lovely purple pasqueflowers, also called prairie crocuses, are the first wildflowers to appear each spring. The fields are not yet green in this picture. These flowers are short lived, and they will be gone by the time the fields are green
