Behind The Lens

Location

I shot this on my favorite shooting and walking place in Tata, Hungary. This location has lot of small lakes some of them are artificial. This one Derít?-tó is used mostly for fishing with small wooden cottages onshore.

Time

It was in the time of the sunset in late September so the colors of the sky have a really wide range of warm tonality.

Lighting

Light, in this case, is mostly reflected from clouds and of course the burning horizont. The line of the pier is ment to guide the viewer trought the scene.

Equipment

Camera: Pentax K-3II, Lens: SMC Pentax-DA 21mm F3.2 AL Limited, Tripod: Manfrotto befree - MKBFRA4D-BH,

Inspiration

The sunset of this day was marvelously colorful so I take a couple of shots and enjoy the fall of the night on the wooden pier.

Editing

The image itself isn't an HDR but the dynamic range of my camera is quite impressive so in post-process, it was easy to adjust the shadows a little.

In my camera bag

The bag is a Lowepro FlipTrek, the contents are usually my Pentax K-3II, Lens: SMC Pentax-DA 21mm F3.2 AL Limited, HD Pentax-DA 70mm F2.4 Limited, and HD Pentax-DA 55-300mm F4.5-6.3 ED PLM WR RE + the Manfrotto tripod. Of course, there is a head LED light always with me a blue hour at a shooting place is a common thing so I travel/hike mostly in pitch black :)

Feedback

Always take your basic setup with you = never go without the camera :), because the sunsets/sunrises are unique things not one is similar, once for a lifetime sight. The key thing we landscape shooters need is knowing how the weather works, cloud types (when you can possibly get a "burning" sky), what kind of lights we can expect in that geographic region and of course temperature (If you searching for a mist or hazy view).
