Behind The Lens

Location

I am retired and I live in the country, so I started feeding all kinds of birds. To not be like others, I started to take pictures of birds in flight.,

Time

Every morning, I have 6 woodpeckers coming at my feeders for some lunch, they have been coming here for the last 4 years.

Lighting

Depending on the sun's position, I am able to move position as I prefer the sun behind me.

Equipment

I am lucky to own a Canon 5D Mark IV. My favorite lens for this type of photography is the Canon 300mm f/2.8 IS. I keep the aperture at 2.8 but the speed is at 1/8000 sec. The ISO depends on the brightness, it goes from 800 to 2000 ISO

Inspiration

Eing member of a photo club, you have to exceed expectations.

Editing

I crop a little to remove the feeder.

In my camera bag

Mes lens are, 100-400 IS Ii, 300mm f/2.8, 400mm f/2.8, 50mm f/1.4. And 24/105 f/4 L.

Feedback

wait until your subject lands somewhere, then shoot in burst mode until it taks off.
