Location
This photo was taken on the fields of Skopje, Macedonia. I live near the countryside and I was taking a late evening walk.Time
It was around 6 pm on May 9th. The day was sunny with a few clouds and a light breeze to break the heat.Lighting
Although it wasn't the golden hour, the sun was at an angle where it cast shadows from the side. One side of the poppy would be basked in the sunlight, while the other would have its petals defined by the light. This is my favorite time to shoot as it adds a touch of dramatic flair.Equipment
I used my Nikon D3100 for this shot. It was handheld and I had used my zoom lens (Af-S Nikkor 55-300mm).Inspiration
I love poppies and there were so many that I had to take some shots. I really focused on the composition and it worked out perfectly. I love how the first one is in focus and opened up, as the others are getting more blurred and closed.Editing
No, I did not. I don't know how, yet, and I rather leave it as it is. This is so when people see it, they can experience it as I did.In my camera bag
Just my camera and my lens. Sometimes I take my other one, the Nifty Fifty, in case there are some cool landscape or portrait shots.Feedback
First of all, have and take the time to examine the flowers in the field. It doesn't have to be every single one. When examining, experiment with composition and lighting. What effect do you want in the photo and what lighting will give you that? Play with angles too. Do you want a shot from the side, top, or bottom? Once you find a flower, don't stop at just one angle, composition, or shot. Take a photo of that one flower in many different ways.
