Behind The Lens

Location

This photo in the middle of nowhere New Mexico just off old Route 66. It was a little abandoned town with only a handful of buildings and this fantastic relic.

Time

We had been driving for most of the day when we decided to take a break. That's when we stumbled across this place. I think that it was around 4 or 5 in the afternoon.

Lighting

It was an overcast day and the light was a little muted so I thought that using a light purple filter would make the colors pop out a little more.

Equipment

I took this photo with my S7 Active phone. This is actually one of the photos that inspired me to purchase my Cannon.

Inspiration

I loved the look of the car and the building behind it. I was originally just going to take a picture of the car but then I spotted a couple of tires someone had tossed in the back of it and asked my husband to put them in place. When he was doing it the idea of him sitting in it just struck him as funny but I thought it was just what the picture needed.

Editing

The original version came out a little darker than I expected so I used the editing app and lightened it up.

In my camera bag

I have found that even when I am just using my phone a great thing to always have is an umbrella. On bright days it can come in handy to dampen the light on your lens and on rainy days it can keep your camera dry.

Feedback

There are lots of similar types of places all along old Route 66.
