We were taking a walk around the block when we spotted this giant. The snail was as big as my wifes' palm. I had to take the shot as quickly as possible, well, she gave me a lot of time... We live very close to a Nature Estate so we have seen all sorts of amazing creatures, bright and beautiful. South Africa is beautiful, everywhere you look.Time
It was pretty early. Bright and sunny. Our summers bring out the best in nature and we are always grateful to be able to capture one of the worlds creatures whenever we are given the chance. I had to lie on the floor to get the best possible close-up. At some point the snail could see that I am following it so it gave me some amazing shots. Thanks Mama Snail or was it Papa Snail?Lighting
Natural lighting all the way. I try not to use my flash especially when capturing outdoor.Equipment
For this one, I used my smartphone as my dslr got stolen during covid robberies here in my country.Inspiration
I love the outdoors. I love nature and all its' creatures so whenever I get the opportunity to take the shot, I always make the best of it, no matter how difficult or complex the shot.Editing
None.In my camera bag
Before the robbery, I almost always kept my Canon EOS 1100, 15mm, 90mm and 200mm lenses, x2 filters and a lens spray in my bag.Feedback
Take your time. Nature is not going anywhere. Nature wants you to show its' true beauty so trust me, you have time to take the best shot. Always watch out for shadows and keep abreast of your surroundings. Some animals/creatures don't take too kindly to people filming them so always show respect to the creature. Do your research on sounds, distance and any interesting features that may help you get the perfect shot.
