Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Hakuba in Nagano prefecture in Japan! There were no tourists there as Hakuba is a ski resort town and I was there during off season for skiing…but that worked well for photography and fall colours!

Time

It was a cold and cloudy day and there was a fog surrounding the forest even around 11am

Lighting

As it was daytime, I wanted to give it a mysterious feel, almost like walking into the unknown…so the light in the far background worked well for this composition

Equipment

Nikon D500 with a Nikkor 50mm 1.8mm prime lens

Inspiration

The fall leaves covered the ground like a soft red carpet and I just wanted to capture the beauty of fall season in Japan

Editing

Just some basic colour correction edit in ps

In my camera bag

Nikon D850 and D500 camera bodies and Nikkor 70-200 2.8mm and 50mm 1.8mm prime lens…works great for landscape photography

Feedback

If you go with an open mind then one will always find an interesting composition even if you face inclement weather! Also an interesting foreground is important while visualising your composition
