Behind The Lens

Location

On a drive between Umhlanga and Drakensberg in South Africa. Not entirely sure where, despite the road sign, I cannot locate the exact position. Taken whilst driving on one of many scenic road across the country.

Time

The photo was taken at 13:35 on 27/04/2019

Lighting

An overcast and cloudy day, about an hour before a downpour natural lighting effect from lighter cloud coverage in the distance, creating the illuminated effect.

Equipment

Photo was taken on an iPhone 8 without any additional filters

Inspiration

1 of many glorious views whilst driving through South Africa, A great shot for leading lines of the road, with the mountainous backdrop.

Editing

No post editing on this shot, 100% natural.

In my camera bag

This was a grab shot from a mobile whilst in a moving car, my normal camera (in the boot) is a Nikon D3500 with a combination of Nikon 18-50 lens (kit lens) and Tamron 70-300 lens. Covers most eventualities.

Feedback

Take pictures of what appeals to you. I often take "grab shots" from least expected places. I enjoy the art of taking the photo, but find that some of my favorite pictures are the ones that come naturally and aren't staged. It's all down to personal preference, I prefer to do minimal or no editing to my photos (cropping mostly) as I like to capture what I see, rather than the "perfect shot". Imperfections tell the story.
