We are always craving for those unique sunset colors, something I’ll never get tired of. As that afternoon by Misurina lake, no matter how tired we were, I found myself rushing to the edge of the lake while the sky was slowly turning crimson and gold. That day the sky just exploded as if it had been set on fire. Here’s the last light, breaking trough the mountain peaks, filling the clouds with sparks of fire.

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in the shores of Lake Misurina, in the Italian Dolomites.

Time

I remember this sunset as one of the most spectacular I've ever seen. The atmosphere that the colors created that evening felt like a burning sky in front of my eyes.

Lighting

Though the sky and the colors were drawing my full attention, I wanted to take a more intimate view from the building, beautifully framed by the mountains and its own reflection on the lake that was capturing the colors of the sky as well.

Equipment

This was shot on my Canon EOS 6D and a 24-70mm lens. Of course, I am always accompanied by my Gitzo tripod, ready to face every type of condition.

Inspiration

The whole place is an inspiration to take pictures and I'd been longing for my own picture of Misurina for a very long time, inspired by the amazing work of many other photographers.

Editing

Yes, of course. I like to keep the colors as much realistic as I can, but I tend to do a lot of lighting work and enhancement thanks to the use of luminosity masks.

In my camera bag

I always keep my camera body and three lenses. Never forget my filters and my tripod (A MUST).

Feedback

Let the place inspire you and don't forget to plan and prepare every single detail you'd like to have under control before your trip.
