Location
This photo is taken during one of my strolls in a forest near my hometown, a place where I could be really far from most of the people (that was my mindset before the Covid pandemics) and really immersed in the natural beauty that helps me clear my mind. An opportunity to observe plants, animals and also some really interesting stones (sometimes even small quartz crystals).Time
As usual, my strolls in that forest started around 11-12 AM and lasted for 2-3 hours, so this picture was taken around 1 PM that day, which explains the sun reflections on the water in the background.Lighting
I decided to take advantage of the presence of a small stream near the path, and to use the glimmer of the wavelets in my visual composition. I'm also in love with the bokeh effect (that I tried to reconstruct in my paintings too)Equipment
That was a compact Nikon Coolpix S9900 v 1.0, no tripod, no flash during my forest strolls in search of fascinating insects : the choice is obvious - a small, light camera with a minimum of controls and settings that can react quickly before the insect disappears!Inspiration
That was inspired by my obsession with the macro images, the bokeh effect and also my interest for insects. Combining all this was a way to double (triple?) the pleasure!Editing
Usually just cropping - to insure the composition is well balanced, dynamic and narrative - and sometimes working on the contrast and highlights. In my camera bag
As one of my priorities is to try and find the most interesting insects during my forest strolls, the obvious choice is to have a small, light camera with quick reactions and a minimum of controls/settings - before the insect could fly away. So, definitely not heavy DSLRs and huge objectives/lenses.Feedback
The sunlight is your best friend for this kind of images (macro, closeups, bokeh effects...)
