Behind The Lens

Location

I had a visit to the Houston Museum of Science and History and passed by the Gemstones exhibition, where I took this photo of the above mineral, which was the most to fascinate me with its preciousness among all other exhibitions.

Time

It has been 1 year since I took this photo (April 22 2019) during my time at Houston where I traveled to join a Robotics World Festival with my robotics team back in my country, Lebanon.

Lighting

I was captivated by the combination of crystalline colors in the precious Opal mineral, carefully and perfectly put in the exhibition with the suitable lighting.

Equipment

Sony Xperia XA1 Camera, 23MP, f/2.0, 24mm, 1/2.3"

Inspiration

Photography was my passion to do since I was around 9 years old, and my focus was on landscapes and sunsets. However, with the features of my phone camera and my desire to seek new type of photography, I took the chance to start with conceptual photography with these precious gemstones in the exhibition.

Editing

The colors were more saturated in the naked eye than in camera (which is a flaw feature in most phone cameras), even though my phone was able to capture the light on the gemstone only, excluding any other interfering element, I was able to give the colors their real characteristic as so I saw them in the museum.

In my camera bag

I only had my phone at that time, but my professional kit is Nikon D3200

Feedback

I would appreciate getting advice from professional photographers as for I'm not very old in this field.
