Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in a local park in early spring. I was looking for interesting shots and came across a smal tree covered in pussy willow which would have been a great picture on it's own but a bee (orange tailed mining bee) landed on one of the katkins making it an ultimately more interesting picture.

Time

It was mid-afternoon and very sunny.

Lighting

Very bright so positioning was key.

Equipment

A Canon DSLR. No flash required.

Inspiration

I love wildlife and nature and was looking for an interesting photo opportunity. The colour of the bee against the pussy-willow was quite striking and provided a natural life photo full of bright colours.

Editing

None

In my camera bag

Canon DSLR ad a Canon one shot.

Feedback

Lots of patience. Try to find an area with lots of flowers that attracts bees. Use a fast shutter and manual focus to keep the bee at the centre of focus. Take plenty of shots as the bee moves around the flower before it flies off.
