Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo while visiting family in Florida. I was on a pier looking out over the gulf and noticed the sail.

Time

It was right around noon when I took this picture. My family and I were getting ready to leave the beach and hunt down something to eat and cruise the shops on the beachfront when the sail in the distance caught my attention. I had been taking pictures of seabirds and a tourist pirate ship. The sailboat was almost missed.

Lighting

There was no special lighting secret. I prefer to use the light available whenever possible and this was just mid-day sun on the ocean.

Equipment

This was taken with a Cannon EOS Rebel T6.

Inspiration

No special inspiration. Just looked neat all by itself out there.

Editing

I usually do some minimal post processing but it has been so long that I can't remember.

In my camera bag

Just the essentials and some things to make kids smile when doing photography with children. Bubbles, silly books, rattles stuff like that.

Feedback

This was a chance photo. Just watch the water long enough and you'll get the shot you want.
