Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in Iceland the day after my birthday and just before the COVID-19 lockdown! So I was super lucky!

Time

This was taken towards the end of the day around 5 o’clock in the afternoon.

Lighting

As it was overcast and gloomy there wasn’t a huge amount of light! But I thought this makes the image more dramatic! I had to use a longer shutter speed as planed to help with the light.

Equipment

For this I used the Nikon Z6 with the 24-70 kit lens. I did have this in a tripod to allow for the longer shutter speed. The tripod was a Manfroto Befree.

Inspiration

I’ve seen images of this waterfall for many years on social media, which made me want to visit this stunning country!

Editing

Yes I did. This was actually three panoramas from top to bottom stitched in Affinity Photo. I then used lightroom for some adjustments and then used the colorfx by Nik collection for contrast.

In my camera bag

All I have in my camera bag is a Nikon Z6, the kit lens 24-70mm and my lee filters.

Feedback

Take your time and use a wide angle for this image. This was the reason why I took a panorama as I could not get the best composition!
