Behind The Lens

Location

It was taken inside the Spinnaker Tower, in Portsmouth.

Time

Around mid-day, I think. It's interior though and only artificially lighted.

Lighting

I just had to work with what lighting there was. It is an artificially lit interior stairway.

Equipment

Nikon D7000. No tripod,or,flash.

Inspiration

My family and I were actually having an afternoon tea in the tower, as part of my dad's 90th birthday celebrations. I took a number of photos of my family on the stairs, with them all looking up to me. When we'd finished, I managed to grab a couple of quick photos of the stairs themselves, as I just loved their geometric shape.

Editing

A bit of sharpening and contrast adjustment, using the free Nikon tools.

In my camera bag

I only have my Nikon D7000 with the standard 18-105 lens. I keep a polorizer filter and a few other filters in my bag.

Feedback

I didn't go out to capture an image like this. As I've said, I was on a family day out. It just goes to show though, what interesting subjects you sometimes find, in the strangest of places. You do have to take a little time to actually see the potential in everyday objects.
