Location
This photo was shot while I was hiking around Neah Bay along Washington’s coast. It was low tide and not a very dramatic photo. It set in my files until Covid19 sequestered me and I started reviewing old files to see if I could find anything to work on. This low tide photo was almost surreal like and I thought I could make it into something more complex and interesting. I went to the NASA site which allows downloads of their moon and planet photos free to use. This is Saturn and I took the tint hints from Saturn to make this other worldly photo.Time
Low tide that day was mid afternoon. It was a 12 mile hike along the beach, so it was a long day.Lighting
It was sunny so lighting was not helpful.Equipment
I used a Nikon D3400, a polarizer and a shoulder strap to carry the camera as I hiked.Inspiration
The tidal pools and ubiquitous rocks extending almost to the horizon was a striking scene.Editing
Post processing included cropping out trees and beach. I then added the Saturn object and adjusted tint and hue.In my camera bag
When hiking with only my shoulder strap that holds the cameras close to my chest so it is not bouncing around as I hike and climb I take as little as possible. I had the D3400, a 10.0-20,0 mm r/4.5-5.6 with a filter. I also carry an extra battery and memory card just in case.Feedback
As this combined my two favorite passions.....hiking and photography I would advise that a comfortable shoulder strap to holster your camera is a must have. I always take my favorite lens for landscapes and plenty of water.
