Behind The Lens

Location

I took this picture in the garden of my parent's house. They live a in a town called El Libano, in the department of Tolima, here in Colombia. As being at the countryside, it has a great biodiversity, spotting hummingbirds, spiders, green bees and other species.

Time

It was near noon when this picture was taking. I just saw it, and made the shot.

Lighting

It was natural light, on a cloudy day, so fortunately it didn't made any hard shadows.

Equipment

At that time I wasn't into photography as now I am, so I used my brother's camera, a Nikon D3000, he had had for a few years. It had the standard 18-55mm kit lens.

Inspiration

I've been always intrigued by photography; how the light was caught inside the little box... later on I learned how a RAW file could be improved by modifying little things as exposure, contrast, shadows, and other things, and the magic began to appear in front of my eyes. I just couldn't believe how beautiful the world was trough the lens.

Editing

I just retouched exposure, lightning, shadows, and a little saturation on the greens and yellows.

In my camera bag

I have my Nikon D7500, and my 50mm f/1.4G lens, but I also have a 35mm f/1.8G, a 12-24mm f/4G wide-angle and a 40mm f/2.8G macro lens. I also have a manirroto traveler tripod, a Novoo 20100mAh with an AC socket, 2x128GB A2 sandisk microSD with Adapters, and 2 extra batteries.

Feedback

Feel the environment, hold still and try to see what normally isn't easy to find. And be prepared to shoot!
