Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in Seewis, near Chur, in the Canton Grisons, Switzerland, while I was in holiday last winter.

Time

It was morning, when I stood up. I didn't want to take a photo at this moment, but when I saw the beautiful morning mood, I took the camera and I took some pictures. It was 7:46 in the morning.

Lighting

I couldn't think long: For luck, I had the right lens on the camera, and so, I could take a very short release time (1/2500 sec). One minute later, the light was otherwise, not half so awesome anymore.

Equipment

This was shot with a Nikon D7000 with a 70-200mm f/2.8 lens. No other equipment was involved.

Inspiration

It was a great coincidence and a huge stroke of luck that I could take this photo. I had not expected it at all.

Editing

Surprisingly, I did not need much post-processing for this image. Only the colors were pretty flat, so I had to correct them.

In my camera bag

I don't have very big equipment: a Nikon D7000 with an 18-105mm lens. Then since a while a small but nice 50mm f/1.8 lens and a manual macro 85mm f/1.8. Since a couple of months I have a lens I have been dreaming of for a long time: A 70-200mm f/2.8. A huge part, but here really applies: Big is beautiful.
