Location
This photo was taken on my country NSW property after it was ravaged by the 2019-20 fires. The rains in early January to March saw regrowth and a greening of the entire area, and I noticed this little plot of mushrooms showing burnt logs and new growth.Time
This photo was taken in the afternoon around 1600 on the 4th of April.Lighting
The day was bright with a light cloud cover giving wonderful, even lighting. No extra lighting was required and very little post production was carried out.Equipment
NIKON D300 with an AF-S NIKKOR 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5G ED VR. No flash or tripod was used. Aperture f/8?ISO 200?Shutter 1/160?Inspiration
The regrowth after the horror of the fires was beautiful. Seeing nature take back what was taken is always inspiring.Editing
Apart from a crop and a smart sharpen, this photo is straight from the camera. In my camera bag
I always have my trusty old NIKON D300 body with an AF-S NIKKOR 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5G ED VR and my all-time favourite lens the AF-S VR Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED. I always have a flash and diffusers and heaps of AA batteries. My memory cards never leave the bag for long either, as I have been out with a mate on a weekend in Dunedin, New Zealand and he found he had left his memory card in Australia.Feedback
Look for the small details. It isn't always about the mountain or the shimmering lake. Often the little insect on the tiny flower tells a much more interesting story.
