When the U.S. entered WW1 in 1917, it had no fighter aircraft of its own. France was then the most significant force in military aviation and supplied her allies with engines, airframes and training. The most notable U.S. fighter pilot to fly the Nieuport was Capt. Eddie Rickenbacker of the famed 94th Aero Squadron. This replica is painted in Rickenbacker's colors.
