Thank you. It's a nice way to watch TV, although the big dog weighs 100 pounds and gets kinda heavy after a while.

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my living room.

Time

This photo was taken at night.

Lighting

Light was provided by a bright television screen. A 65" television is opposite the couch we were sitting on. I turned to a relatively bright image on the TV screen and paused the picture.

Equipment

My wife's Canon 80D was mounted on a Manfroto tripod. The camera was set to utilize remote triggering from a Canon infrared 'clicker'. Once all subjects were in place, the clicker triggered the shutter. In other words, this was a sophisticated selfie.

Inspiration

We have a close relationship with our dogs. They are part of the family, and we wanted them to be included in our family portrait. This photo was shot on a cold (for Phoenix) November evening, so we were bundled in a blanket.

Editing

Adobe Lightroom was used to crop and adjust exposure and colors.

In my camera bag

My Canon EOS 5D Mark IV always has my Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L II USM lens mounted on it. That is my go-to lens for the majority of my photos. I also carry several lenses: Canon EF 16-35mm f/4L IS USM, Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM [used for this particular photo], and a Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM. I try to shoot with natural light all the time, but on those occasions where I need an external light source, I use either a Neewer CN-216 LED panel or a Canon Speedlite 580EX. I have tripods by Slik, 3Pod and Manfrotto. My wife has a Canon EOS 80D.

Feedback

Be sure of your light source. Personally, I hate to use flash; hence the bright television screen.
