Behind The Lens

Location

This photo is taken in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia in the CBD at night at the end of a walking ghost tour of the city.

Time

This was taken at around 10pm at night. It was quite cold and starting to rain.

Lighting

The lighting was pretty good because the city streets are filled with lots of lights as well as the lights from other buildings.

Equipment

I used my canon 7D Mark II and a 24-70 mm lens... I use this lens alot for landscapes and architecture.

Inspiration

I was inspired by the building itself as it is an Melbourne icon... the train station building (photographed) used to have an operating ball room up the top.

Editing

I sharpened the image and enhanced the clarity of the photo as well as turned it to black and white. I then darkened it to create the gloomy effect.

In my camera bag

Always have my canon 7D Mark II, I also have my external flash, and I carry at least 3 different lenses generally they are the 24-70, 35-135 as well as my favourite macro 100mm lens. Also carry with me microfiber cleaning cloth and spare SD card.

Feedback

I would say try to stay further back so you can get a good amount of the building in your frame, also for this shot I found it easier to actually stand on the decking of another adjacent building.
