Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at The Great White Rann desert at Kutchch, Gujarat in India. Photography for me is capturing moments that we can cherish for lifetime, specially the ones which you recollect while looking at a photo.

Time

This photo was around 6.00 pm IST during sunset. The White Rann of Kutch offers a stunning view of the sunsets. The never ending salt flats glitters like gold and can amuse any photographer

Lighting

I wanted to capture the silhouette of the visitors wih the golden sun at the backdrop. For making this happen, i kept my camera close to the ground as much as possible .

Equipment

Camera Nikon D7000 with 18-105mm Nikon lens

Inspiration

I am always drawn to silhouettes, especially the way they can express the emotions with mystery even without giving a clear view of the person. Many great photographers whom i follow on photography platforms inspired me to try out these kind of snaps. A special mention of Alan Schaller - his street photography compositions and point of view was an inspiration

Editing

Slight contrast enhacement with dust spot clearing.

My Nikon D7000 and two must lens - 18-105mm kit lens and 70-300 telephoto

Feedback

Best time to visit for such a snap is when there is 30-40 mins time for the sun to set. Don't be nervous to try different shutter fstop combinations and focus on the silhouettes
