Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at home. I was actually taking some photos of flowers in my garden when I found this jumper spider in one of the dead leaves. I took it inside my terrace and set it up on a white sticky paper( since it was so jumpy:-) and sprayed some water on it to make the picture more interesting. I do mostly Macro photos at home and Landscape photography during my travels.

Time

The photo was taken around noontime, the sun was too harsh so I had to set it up inside my terrace.

Lighting

Since the shadows were too strong from the noontime sun, I had to set it up inside an open shade in my terrace just enough to give me some ambient light and added a single mounted flash attached with a softbox 16cm in diameter.

Equipment

I used my Nikon D90 with my Nikon 105 /2.8 macro lens with a PN11 extension tube mounted on a Manfrotto tripod.

Inspiration

I have been watching some macro photos in youtube lately and wanted to do them myself.

Editing

I usually post-process using Lightroom and then PS when required. In this particular photo not so much was done except for minor color adjustments and increasing shadows and minor sharpening in LR.

In my camera bag

It depends on where and what I'm shooting. My go-to equipment is usually very light and simple. I carry my Sony a6000 with my Sigma 16mm prime lens.

Feedback

Yes, I did a lot of trials with different lighting set-up. The diffused softbox did a better job and gave me the result I wanted. You can watch youtube channels too. You will find a wealth of info and tutorials and then put them into practice.
