Such a cool pet portrait. The lighting and shallow depth of field really make the kitty pop. Nicely.done.

Location
I took it in the balcony of an apartement where I rent a room at Buenos Aires, Argentina. The cat was like my roommate.Time
Very early at the morning, at the precisely instant when the sun rise.Lighting
Only natural light.Equipment
Canon Rebel t3i, Sigma Art Lens 1.4 30 mm.Inspiration
I came very late from a party, and the sun was still hidden below the horizon. When I open the door, I saw the beautiful sky before the rise with all the different nuances of blue, and the cat enjoying the fresh morning air. I went there to pet the cat when I notice that the sun was ready to rise. So I didnt even think it for a second. I ran for my camera and shot it just at the sun rising. The colored spotlights helped me with the composition, and the Ceniza, the cat, was amazing posing for the pic.Editing
Yes, I managed the contrast, exposure in some located areas, like highlights, and shadows in the face of the cat, color temperature, clarity, a bit of saturation. In my camera bag
Always: Lens: Sigma Art 1.4, 30mm. Camera: Canon Rebel T3i. Extra battery pack. Almost always Lens: standar teleobjetive Canon 75-300 standar angular Canon 18-55 Sometimes: A little flash Canon Speedlite 320 EX. A little tripod from a local trademark.Feedback
Take care of the focus. If you're using a wideo photographic diaphragm, make sure you're focusing what you want to be focus on. Observe the elements close to you to make a the best composition. And be nice with the animal you're working with.
