The old Hampton freight depot of the former Eastern Railroad, which was later absorbed by the Boston & Maine, who's line was later taken over by Guilford Rail, which changed its name to Pan Am Railways and abandoned the line in 2013. It has since been acquired by the state and will rise again as a rail trail, and take its place as a part of the East Coast Greenway, which stretches from Florida to Maine.

Here's the Wikipedia listing for the Eastern Railroad:

Behind The Lens

Location

The abandoned rail line in Hampton, New Hampshire.

Time

About 2-3 in the Afternoon.

Lighting

There was a high overcast, but the sun managed to shine through from the west.

Equipment

Just my trusty PENTAX K-3 II camera, with an SMC PENTAX-DA 3.5-5.6 18-55mm AL WR lens.

Inspiration

I'd walked past this building a few times while exploring the old railroad line, and decided to take an image of it.

Editing

Some. Mostly just some adjustments to the raw file to make it stand out when converted to black and white.

In my camera bag

Depending on what I'm intent on trying to capture, I might carry a PENTAX K-3 II, a PENTAX SF1N, a prime lens or two, a zoom lens or two, a spare camera battery (or two if it's cold out), film (color and/or black and white), a dust blower, a cleaning cloth, a few lens filters that I think I might need for that day's shoot, and a tripod, if I think I'm going to need it.

Feedback

Always make note of structures and scenes that look interesting when you're out for a walk, or bicycle ride.
