Sunset at about 7:00pmLighting
Obviously this picture is all about the light. A sunset provides warm, strongly directional light which is typically very dramatic. The color of this sunset was just amazing!Equipment
Fuji X-T3, 23mm lens, hand held.Inspiration
Sunsets are my favorite. They can be very dramatic and inspiring. Nature's colors at their best. The arching tree branches provided a wonderful frame for this sunset.Editing
I opened the Fuji raw file in Capture One to get the most detail with the least artifacts. Then I transferred to Lightroom to do most of the color, contrast, exposure, and sharpening. Finally I send it to Photoshop for final adjustments. In my camera bag
Fuji X-T3 camera, 23mm lens, 50-230mm lens, polarizing filters, extra batteries and SD cards, brushes and cleaning cloths.Feedback
It's all about being at the right place at the right time. This means being there at many sunsets, most of which will not yield anything. But then there is a rare and beautiful sunset that provides an amazing photo. I like to go somewhere along the Susquehanna River or other body of water to get the reflected sunset colors. Finally I try to include a framing tree branch as I did here, or some other foreground objects.
