Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad in Bryson City, NC. We took a family Fall trip to take in some of the fall colors. Due to a ticket error, I had to sit in a separate car from the rest of my family. I was the first person on this unique car, and had to snap an image.

Time

We got up early to travel there, but the image was taken at approximately 8:30 am.

Lighting

I didn't use any additional lighting for this shot. The subtle low lighting of the car added to the overall nostalgic feel.

Equipment

Canon 5Ds F4.0 1/30s 24mm 3200 ISO Mefoto Tripod

Inspiration

As soon as I stepped into the car, I was mesmerized by the overall nostalgic feel of the car. With no one else on it, it just seemed like a perfect shot.

Editing

I made some post production Lightroom edits.

In my camera bag

Canon 5Ds, Canon 6D, Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM Lens, Canon 300mm, Haida ND filters, Mefoto RoadTrip Classic Tripod, DJI Phantom 4 Pro drone.

Feedback

If you are planning a trip here, ask to be seated on one of the railcars like the Jackson car. The other cars don't have nearly the same feel and look as the older style cars.
