Location
This photo was taken in Cape Town, South Africa on a beautiful, clear and starry night.Time
It was in the evening, around 9pm. I was sitting on my balcony and looking up and waiting for the eclipse. The sky was crystal clear that evening, it made you feel like you could grab the moon and stars and keep them in your pocket. I had my camera ready in the hope of capturing the moment forever.Lighting
I was smack in the middle of the Cape Town city centre, so there was loads of light from around me, influencing my shot. I had to go stand behind a building with my tripod. I found a spot that was not influenced by any direct light from the street or nearby buildings.Equipment
I made use of my Canon Mark ii, tripod and release cable.Inspiration
The eclipse is rarely visible and it does not happen regularly, it's special to capture such a rare moment.Editing
What you see here is what you get.In my camera bag
I always have my tripod, camera, macro lens and flash. You never know when you need to capture something so small and delicate.Feedback
Make sure that you are in the darkest area possible, use your bulb setting and play. Play until you can see the moon that is miles away from where you are standing. Use different lenses, for this one I used my zoom lens and kept in on manual focus. Enjoy seeing something so far away come closer and closer through your lens.
