Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken inside my home, before I made one of my rooms into a studio.

Time

it was about 3pm

Lighting

With the lighting at the moment I only had a darker corner of my house. I used a cheap continuous light with a soft box and defuser. Then a godox 600 strobe on the left of her. Not to far from her.

Equipment

I used a Canon 7d at the time. With my sign 35mm. Newwer tripods for the lights and camera. A cheap continuous light from Amazon that came with the softbox and defuser. And a godox 600 strobe with soft box and defuser. Katie black backdrop.

Inspiration

My sister and I wanted to do a classy chola influenced photo as in "Sad Girl" from our younger days. Kind of a culture thing.

Editing

I just cleaned up her face alittle bit and used high frequency separation really. Not too much adjusted the colors. Took out wrinkles from the back drop.

In my camera bag

now I have a Canon 5 markiii. I use my Canon 85mm 1.8, sigma art 35mm 1.4 and my Canon 50mm 1.8 the most.

Feedback

umm. Just figure out the best way to use your lighting. It took me a few tries and moving her and my lighting around to get what i wanted.. Find a model who can easily be directed to what you are wanting. Just be creative, i made her tears with a hot glue gun and spray paint. So literally can be creative with anything laying around your home ????
