Location
This photo was made from my helicopter flight over the Napali Coast, Kauai, Hawaii.Time
Our flight was in the early afternoon.Lighting
Lighting for this shot was a challenge because I was limited to available light and fighting the constant movement of the helicopter and a bit of rain mist on my lens.Equipment
This photo was shot with a Canon EOS 6D Mark II and a EF 24-105 Canon lens.Inspiration
I loved the contrast of the blue water and green mountains and the movement of the boat.Editing
This photo was shot in RAW and I did do some processing in Lightroom to lighten enhance the detail of the mountains. I’ve learned a lot about post processing since editing this photo and would make some additional adjustments if I revisit the photo again. In my camera bag
I always have my Canon EOS 6D Mark II camera and two lenses; EF 24-105 and a Canon - EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 III Telephoto Zoom Lens. Also, I never leave without and extra charged battery and SD Card.Feedback
Doors off helicopter rides are not for the faint of heart, but if you’re willing to do it, be sure your camera is securely strapped around your neck. Don’t be afraid to use automatic settings because you do not have time to make adjustments and re-shoot. Have fun with it and remember to put the camera down occasionally to take in the beauty of what you’re experiencing!
